What is Boba?

Boba Network is an Ethereum Layer 2 optimistic rollup originally forked from Optimism, with its own customizations including Hybrid Compute (enabling smart contracts to call external Web2 APIs). It's been live since 2021 and remains a functioning lower-cost alternative to mainnet for EVM activity. BOBA is the native token, used for gas alongside ETH and for governance. Boba also runs a multichain strategy, with deployments on BNB Chain and other networks in addition to the Ethereum L2. The ecosystem is smaller than the top-tier L2s but includes established DEXs, lending markets, and infrastructure.
