What is HyperEVM?
HyperEVM is the EVM execution layer embedded inside Hyperliquid, a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain. Unlike typical rollups or sidechains, HyperEVM shares the same consensus and security as HyperCore, Hyperliquid's on-chain order book for perpetuals and spot trading, allowing smart contracts to interact directly with the trading engine without oracles or bridges. HYPE is the native gas token. The chain uses a dual-block architecture — fast 1-second blocks for typical transactions and larger slower blocks for gas-heavy operations. For DeFi builders, HyperEVM is uniquely positioned: lending markets, structured products, and automated strategies can plug directly into one of the deepest on-chain order books in crypto.
