What is Mantle?

Mantle is an Ethereum Layer 2 that uses a modular architecture, combining an optimistic rollup with EigenDA for data availability (separating execution from data storage for lower costs). MNT is the native token used for gas and governance — unusual among L2s, which typically use ETH for gas. Mantle is backed by one of the largest on-chain treasuries in crypto, inherited from its BitDAO origins, which funds ecosystem development and liquidity programs. The DeFi ecosystem includes established lending markets, DEXs, and a strong liquid staking presence via mETH (Mantle's liquid staked ETH product, one of the larger LSTs outside of Lido). For users, Mantle offers low-fee EVM activity plus access to the Mantle-ecosystem-specific yield opportunities built around mETH and the treasury's incentive programs.
